Engineers have tweaked the petrol engine of the car to produce less power, but more torque. This has been done by increasing the compression ratio from 10.0:1 to 11.0:1, and as a result, the 1.2-liter K-Series engine makes 84.3 PS (83.11 bhp) at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm, as against the older model’s 87 PS (85.77 bhp) at 6,200 rpm and 114 Nm @
4,000 rpm.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Review and Specifications AND Prices


Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest selling car maker. The company had launched a facelifted version of its bestseller and embedded in it a more powerful motor. The new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has been launched in India with the much-hyped 1000-cc K-Series engine and a host of appealing features. Now, after the successful launches of Alto three variants (standard, LX and Lxi) the Maruti has also launched its Alto K10. K10 is the latest version of the Maruti Alto with the company’s K series engine which is an aluminium based engine. The K series engine is light weight and thus, increases the performance of the vehicle and also the considerable impact on the mileage of the vehicle.
Maruti Alto is a very small car, comes with 2 engine options, the 800cc Maruti 800 and the 1100cc which is seen in Wagon R. The air conditioning has got new designs which are of the rotary type, with the sliding type controls found on the non-AC model. The seats are of good quality fabric. The room has enough space for four full size adults. New variant of Maruti Alto with K10B Engine which powers the Maruti A-star and New Maruti Wagon R.
The Alto is powered by a three-cylinder 796 cc gasoline engine, MPFI and a 32bit ECM. All the models of Alto have a five-speed manual transmission. Now the Alto also have a tachometer which was absent in LX model.
Earlier Maruti Alto is available in Standard, LX and LXi are the three variants of Maruti Suzuki Alto. The powerful car comes with the most affordable price. The current price of Maruti Alto Standard is around Rs. 2 lakhs, while the LX and LXi variants are priced around Rs. 2 to Rs. 3 lakhs respectively. The Alto is available in vibrant colours including Caribbean blue, superior white, pearl silver, bright red, wine red, brilliant yellow, midnight black and silky metallic silver.
Alto K10 will be available in six colours: sunlight Copper, Fire Brick Red, Ecru Beige, Midnight Black, Superior White and Silky Silver. The Alto K10 LXi will be priced at Rs. 3.19 lakhs and the VXi is at Rs 3.32 lakh (ex-showroom)

Suzuki Splash all set to be launched in India



Maruti Suzuki SplashMaruti Suzuki, the country's largest passenger carmaker is all set to launch the Suzuki Splash, a small car orientated strongly towards the European design style by early 2009. An official of the company informed that the model would be placed between Zen Estilo and Swift.

Based on an all-new platform, the car will be the natural choice for the Maruti Suzuki's next small car in India. The car may replace the WagonR model, though it could not be officially confirmed by the company.

According to certain sources, this new car would be available in 3 models- 2 petrol and one diesel mated with a 5 speed manual gearbox and will be within Europe's much debated Co2 emission cap of 140g/km. Like the A-Star concept, the Splash will also be an A-segment car and will be rolled out from Maruti's state-of-the-art plant in Manesar, near Gurgaon.

Powered by the new, state-of-the-art, light weight, 998cc K10B petrol engine, A-star is the best in class fuel-efficient car with a mileage of 19.59 kilometers per litre, as tested by ARAI, Pune, country's premier automotive research agency.

Built on a brand new platform, the A-star is an excellent city car with best in class turning radius, power, flat torque (minimum gearshifts) and performance.

A-star is truly a green car with no compromise. The newest model meets the European ELV norms, which implies that 85 per cent of the car is recyclable. In addition, it is free from hazardous materials like Lead, Cadmium, Mercury and Chromium.

Maruti Suzuki is ready to roll out its global city car, Splash (named Ritz in India) by March-April 2009. The new B+ Segment small hatchback Maruti Ritz (Maruti Splash) car would be positioned between its recently launched premium compact car-A-star and its superhatch Maruti Swift.

The Maruti Ritz will be powered by a KB family engine with two versions: a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre common rail diesel engine. Maruti Ritz (Maruti Splash) is likely to be priced around Rs. 4-5 lakh. Like the 
Maruti A-Star and Maruti DZire, the Maruti Suzuki Ritz will also be an A-segment car and will be manufactured from Maruti's state-of-the-art plant in Manesar, near Gurgaon.

According to sources, the new 
Maruti Ritz car shall be launched in six variants, which comprises three petrol cars and three diesel cars. Both the petrol and diesel engines will have four-valve-per-cylinder mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with a five-speed automatic possibly being offered as an option and will also be within Europe's much debated Co2 emission cap of 140 g/km.

The 
car come with Maruti Suzuki's standard set of safety features like ABS, airbags, brake assist, ASP, etc some of which may be trimmed for India, to keep costs into consideration. Also the engine & transmission options may vary for India for the petrol versions of Maruti Ritz (Maruti Splash).

The diesel version of Maruti Suzuki SX4 will be positioned in the place that was left vacant by the phased out model Maruti Baleno.

Maruti Suzuki Plans to Upgrade Maruti Alto

Maruti Suzuki will revamp its existing Maruti Alto Model. The year 2010 is a major one for auto majors as all new cars will have to pass the BSIV pollution norm and this is possible only by revamping the already existing models.

Maruti Suzuki MD & CEO S Nakanishi said, "We have exhausted our quota of 
new cars with eight new launches in India in the past three years. Now we are looking at strengthening our leadership by refreshing our old portfolio."

Maruti to Relaunch Grand Vitara SUV with Powerful Engine

Maruti Suzuki is planning to re-launch its high-end Maruti Grand Vitara SUV with a more powerful 2400 cc engine in order to create an impact in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) market.
Maruti Grand Vitara SUVThe Maruti Grand Vitara is expected to be priced higher than the existing model worth Rs 14 lakh well-known as GV 2.4 in India, is pitted against Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero and Outlander, as well as the yet-to-be launched Skoda Yeti and Toyota Fortuner.

The new SUV will be launched next month, says a person familiar with developments atMaruti, while the company spokesman did not comment on the launch.

The third generation 5-seater Maruti Grand Vitara sales drop down to 270 vehicles in this year against the 795 units in the previous year. Every year more than 25k SUVs whose price is over Rs 10 lakh are sold in India.

The 
new Grand Vitara on top of the bigger engine will also have small changes in the design of exteriors as well as interiors than the older version.

Once upon a time, Maruti was a major player in the domestic SUV segment due to its
Maruti Gypsy in the entry-level.
