Yamaha India Launched Bike VMAX: 1680cc Super Bike - 20 Lakh

yamaha Japanese bike. Yamaha on Wednesday drove in its 1,680cc super bike VMAX, priced at Rs. 20 lakh Launched Bike in INDIA, the most expensive bike so far launched in India. Notwithstanding this steep price, which can buy a premium luxury car, the company has already got nine bookings and hopes to close the year with 25.

Yamaha India Launched Bike VMAX: 1680cc Super Bike @ 20 Lakh

"India is one of the key markets for Yamaha. We are constantly shifting gears to transform the market from utility to pleasure and lifestyle. With the launch of all-new VMAX, Yamaha brings a new credo for the bikers in India,"
Yamaha Motor India CEO Yukimine Tsuji said after unveiling the bike in the presence of the company's brand ambassador & Bollywood actor John Abraham.

Yamaha already sells two expensive bikes — 1670cc MT01 and 998cc bike YZF-R1 —both priced above Rs 12 lakh. Tsuji said the company has sold 100 units of the R1 and 50 units if the MT01 so far. "While we do not expect sale of many units, we believe there is a set of enthusiasts in India which is interested in brands like the Yamaha VMAX. This is like a dream bike for them, something like a Porsche is in cars," Tsuji said.
However, he admitted that poor road infrastructure was a stumbling block to the sale and acceptance of such products. The entry of Yamaha VMAX comes days after Harley Davidson announced plans to drive in its cruisers next year. "Given rapid development of Indian economy and physical infrastructure, this is the right time to bring the world's greatest motorcycles to one of the world's largest motorcycling nations," Harley-Davidson president, COO Matthew Levatich said earlier. While India is the world's second-biggest motorcycle market after China, it is primarily a low-cost bike nation. However, a niche segment appears to be developing in the expensive segment, prompting companies like Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki to launch their premium bike range here, all costing around Rs 10 lakh and above.

Yamaha India Launches YZF-R1: Sports Superbike in 2010 @ 12.5 Lakhs

After kick starting the trend two years back, Yamaha is back to fuel the growing appetite for superbikes in India with the launch of Super Sports 2010 YZF-R1 in the Indian market. With the launch of this machine, Yamaha is all set to enhance the joy of Indian riders and experience true 'Art of Engineering', which lies at the heart of Yamaha's creations. Embodying the dynamic and exhilarating spirit that today’s super sport rider demands, the MotoGP-inspired R1 is the most advanced Open-class production motorcycle.
Yamaha was the first two wheeler company to introduce the genre of super sports and torque sports performance bike in India with the launch of YZF-R1 and MT01, two years ago. The introduction of these machines, illustrates company's aim of enriching Indian bikers riding experience while elevating the current biking paradigm.

Signifying the launch, Mr. Yukimine Tsuji, CEO & MD, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd., said, "While the market for superbikes in India is still limited, consumer response to our previously launched YZF-R1, MT01 and latest VMAX superbikes has been overwhelming. The 2010 YZF-R1 superbike model carries Yamaha's DNA – Performance, Innovation and Design & has one of the most advanced technologies available in the world. Its launch signifies our successful brand transformation efforts in India. In future also, we would continue to launch products that will associate the Indian biking enthusiasts with the combined thrill of technological superiority and artistic brilliance."
The 2010 Yamaha R1 represents a paradigm shift in technology, performance and controllability among litre class sport bikes. The R1 has been designed to be the "Ultimate Cornering Master 1000" of the open super sport class. Inspired by Yamaha's M1 MotoGP race bike, this latest generation 998cc R1 features a crossplane crankshaft design with an uneven firing order to provide outstanding yet easy to control torque and an exceptionally linear throttle feel never experienced before. But there is far more to R1 than just a revolutionary engine.

Crossplane crankshaft technology proven in victory after victory on MotoGP machines provides a high-tech uneven firing interval. Unlike typical inline-four engine design, where the two outer and two inner pistons move together in pairs with 180° intervals, the crossplane crankshaft has each connecting rod 90° with a unique firing order of 270° – 180° – 90° – 180°. This overcomes the inherent fluctuations in inertial torque during each engine revolution, and the accompanying peaky torque characteristics. Instead, combustion torque continues to build, giving the rider more linear throttle response with awesome power and traction out of the corners.

This R1 keeps all the technological superiorities developed for its predecessor: YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) is MotoGP inspired fly-by-wire technology used to deliver instant throttle response. YCC-I is Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake which is a variable intake system that broadens the spread of power. The fuel injection system provides optimum air/fuel mixtures for maximum power and smooth throttle response.

The R1 features Yamaha D-MODE (or drive mode) with rider-selectable throttle control maps to program YCC-T performance characteristics for riding conditions.

In keeping with this machine's exceptional cornering ability and crisp handling, the aluminum frame has been designed to offer exceptional rigidity balance. The rear frame is lightweight Controlled-Fill die-cast magnesium, contributing the optimum mass centralization. The bodywork does more than add break-away-from-the-crowd styling with its more serious, less busy look. The side fairing is smooth for a sleek appearance. And, instead of the usual four-bulb headlight design, the R1 has only two projector-type bulbs mounted closer to the nose of the bike. This position rams air ducts closer in for a more compact, smooth look. In addition, the rounded lenses are unique to the supersport industry.

The frame has a combination of uncompromising rigidity where needed along with carefully achieved flex for the precise rigidity balance this bike needs to give the rider the full benefit of its handling and engine characteristics.

The press-formed fuel tank has a shape developed using 3-D simulation analysis technology. The elongated shape of the tank allows it to fit neatly within the frame in a way that promotes concentration of mass.

2010 YZF-R1 will be available in 24 authorized Yamaha CBU dealerships in 13 cities including 4 Yamaha Factory Shops located in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Kolkata and is priced at Rs 12.5 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, All India). The color options will be Yamaha Blue, Metallic Black and Bluish White.

Yamaha believes that developing motorcycles is both a technological and an artistic endeavor. It pursues a level of performance that transcends mere specifications. The goal is to produce technologically superior motorcycles that should have a deep and intangible emotional appeal. It is what defines the company and this is what we call the "Art of Engineering"

MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi: The Biggest Star Visit India

India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. underscored its leadership in global motorsports by bringing Valentino Rossi, the biggest star the sport has ever seen, to India. This is their latest initiative to underscore India's significance in their global plans after the launch of internationally popular models such as VMAX (1,679cc), YZF-R1 (998cc) and MT01 (1,670cc). The global star was presented along with Indian biking icon and India Yamaha's brand ambassador John Abraham in an interesting conversation where Rossi talked about his special relationship with Yamaha. Rossi earlier visited Auto Expo on January 9th to meet with his fans and look at Yamaha’s exciting motorcycle range on display at company's stall.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yukimine Tsuji, CEO & Managing Director, said, "It is a great moment for India Yamaha Motor to welcome Valentino Rossi to the country. Globally we are a brand known for Motor Sports and we have already initiated the racing culture in India. We are now looking forward to replicate the motor sporting culture in a bigger manner in India. Valentino Rossi is an icon of international sport and in his first visit to India, millions of Indian fans have shown how much they are involved with the sport by their enthusiastic response to his visit. The amount of excitement we witnessed here has surpassed anything we have ever experienced here".

India Yamaha's brand ambassador, John Abraham said, "I have been the biggest fan of Valentino Rossi and ardent follower of his racing career. I still remember meeting him at Brno Grand Prix in 2005 and it is a pleasure to meet the icon again. It is this motor sporting culture and excitement that strengthens my association with the brand. It feels great to co-endorse the brand with the most famous biking legend. My association with Yamaha is truly a special one and I look forward to work closely with the brand".

These are exciting times at Yamaha, with the company going aggressive with its growth strategy for India and leaving no stone unturned in taking biking culture to the next level and Rossi's visit is a step towards this direction.

Rossi's World Championship debut came at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 1996 and he finished his first international season in 9th place with one race win. He became the youngest ever rider in 1997 to take the 125cc World Championship, winning eleven races along the way with Aprilia.

Rossi made history by moving to Yamaha in 2004 and winning the season-opening Grand Prix. He went on to win nine out of 16 races, clinching the World Championship, Yamaha’s first for 12 years, with victory at the penultimate Grand Prix in Phillip Island. He dominated the 2005 season by winning 11 races and helping Yamaha win the Manufacturers and Team titles. In 2006, Rossi took five race wins and five pole positions, more than any other rider. With 9 wins, 16 podiums (both breaking records) and his eighth crown, his sixth in the category with Yamaha YZR-M1, Rossi, popularly known as The Doctor established himself as the greatest ever MotoGP racer in 2008. Rossi cemented his place in the history of Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing in 2009 with seventh title in the premier class and fourth for Yamaha, more than any other manufacturer.

Racing has been in the heart of Yamaha ever since the company was formed in 1955. Yamaha has also set a number of milestones in the racing world, becoming the first Japanese manufacturer to win a 500cc Grand Prix (with Jarno Saarinen in 1973) and the first Japanese company to win the 500cc world title, with Giacomo Agostini in 1975, the first time a two-stroke machine had won in the premier class. After pioneering a generation of two-stroke racers, Yamaha is using the new generation four-stroke machines that Stefan Everts has dominated world championship motocross, winning six titles between 2001 and 2006.
