The new BMW Z4 was launched in May, but it is no secret that the car craves for more power. The German automaker knew that an M version was wanted but do not have any plans to launch one just yet.
However BMW are to launch the Z4 sDrive35is, which will debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.
This new model will not be as fast as an M version, but still a huge improvement over the current 35i, the model that the sDrive35is is based on. The new version will come with a 3.0 twin-turbo inline six engine and offers a higher-flow intake; the result is an 11 percent increase in power and torque.
The faster Z4 will produce 335 horsepower and offer a 0 to 60 time of 4.7 seconds. Other new and improved features include an improved electric power steering programming, brake energy regeneration as well as a standard dual-clutch gearbox.
Customers will be treated to a few M Sport aero features and sports suspension so will be visually awesome. With the ride height lowered and that sports suspension package, this will be more than enough to handle the extra power from that revised power unit.
Other than that, the BMW Z4 sDrive35is is vey much the same car as the 35i.
