Car and Bike Awards 2009 was held in Mumbai today and witnessed
the presence of nation's top auto professionals, corporate honchos from
the auto industry, auto aficionado and two Bollywood stars- Saif Ali
Khan and Priyanka Chopra. In this grand award ceremony, Honda City drove
away with the Car of the Year Award 2009, while Yamaha YZFR15 whizzed
away with the Bike of the Year Award 2009.
Celebrated film personality Saif Ali Khan & Priyanka Chopra who are brand ambassadors of Chevrolet Aveo Yuva & Hero Honda Pleasure scooter respectively, bagged the Best Brand Ambassador Award 2009 each. Ratan Tata was awarded the 'NDTV Profit Car & Bike India Automotive Man of the Year' for his contribution to the Indian automobile industry. To recognize the environment-friendly work done by the automobile industry, M&M Scorpio Micro Hybrid was conferred with the Green Award.
The evening was a celebration of the best design, unmatched technology, style and performance in the automobile industry and honoured the best vehicles that dominated the markets in 2009.
Saif Ali Khan while receiving the award for the Best Brand Ambassador Male said, “It is a great feeling receiving this award. I must share that my association with Chevrolet goes way back when my mother used to drive Chevrolet Impala many years ago and that was my first exposure to this brand. I feel very proud to be associated with this brand and I think it has been mutually beneficial association for both of us.”
Priyanka Chopra while receiving the award for the Best Brand ambassador Female said, “I feel great receiving the award as this is not the regular films award like best actress/actor which we usually get in our profession. This award means a lot to me as the brand is youthful, zesty and vivacious, which describe my personality too and it is a perfect brand fit.”
Ratan Tata, Chairman TATA Group who received Automotive Man of the Year Award said, “I sincerely appreciate NDTV Profit’s gesture in giving me this award. It has really been a critical year for us and this will help boosting up my teams moral. At this highly coveted platform let me share that we have overcome the hic-ups for Nano and it will be rolled out soon. I must say that this has been possible only because of the hard work that my young team of engineers have put in. My role has just been to overlook the entire process and guide them through”
'NDTV Profit Car India & Bike India Awards' is an attempt to felicitate the best among the best, showcased in the NDTV Profit's highly acclaimed 'The Car and Bike' show. These Awards are the automobile industry's one of the most credible awards being presented every year by NDTV, in association with Car India and Bike India magazine team.
The winners of the awards were chosen by expert jury comprising of Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, Editor-Auto, NDTV Group; Amit Chhangani, Assistant Editor, Car India; Aspi Bhathena, Executive Editor, Car India & Bike India; Rayomand Banajee, racing driver and Sam Katgara, former ace rallyist and racer. ‘NDTV Profit Car & Bike Awards 2009’ this year introduced some novel categories to recognize the Marketing and PR efforts of the players which contribute to the product's success with the CNB-AAA awards like Best PR & Communications Team, BestIntegrated Campaign 4 Wheeler, BestIntegrated Campaign Two Wheeler and Brand Ambassador of the Year.
