Volkswagen sales grow up 10 fold at 5,601 in the month of January




Volkswagen, the European car maker recently reported a 10-fold raise in sales in India during January 2010 as compared to the same month previous year.

A total of 5,601 units of premium hatchback Polo and premium sedan Vento were sold in the month of January only, 
Volkswagen India said in a statement.

In January 2010, Volkswagen had sold just 383 units. "We are pleased to see the success story continue in the New Year too. We look forward to further strengthening the position of both our volume models in the coming months and ensure a good growth rate of or premium models in the market", Volkswagen Group Sales Director-Member of Board Neeraj Garg said.

In India, 
Volkswagen has premium sedan Jetta and Passat assembled at its Aurangabad plant. Besides, they also retail in the Indian market, the New Beetle, SUV Touareg, and Phaeton.
