Toyota Rejuvenating Avalon Sedan for 2013

Who could have believed the announcement of the release of the new 2013 Toyota Avalon which talked about its Sport mode, enhanced throttle response and weighted steering? But then one has only to recall that it is the same Avalon in which the aged people had found a replacement for the Mercury Grand Marquis.

Toyota is now ready to renew its vision and seek to develop more exciting and youthful products. Avalon 2013 marks a new beginning at the New York Auto Show today.

Developed, styled and engineered in the United States, it will also be manufactured at Toyota’s Georgetown, KY plant. But what counts is not where it will be built but whether it will fulfill the promise it has raised. From what we have seen of it so far, is good. To look at the A-pillar on back, and its long and sleek looks gives one the feeling of its having drawn upon BMW for inspiration. And the front grille closely resembles that of Hyundai Genesis Coupe. But look inside. You’re overwhelmed with its astounding instrument panel design and spacious touch controls.

Though Toyota is tight-lipped over what powers the new Avalon, its engine having six cylinders tell-tales the fact that it is not going to be different from a version of its corporate 3.5-liter. Then there is also the question about how much horsepower it uses. The existing model and the Lexus GS are powered by 268 and 306 horsepower respectively. What qualifies this in this respect we are yet to find out.

Anyway, when the 2013 Avalon will hit the roads later this year, it is going to be a treat for the drivers. There’s no doubt about that.
