Tata Nano launch in foreign Markets

From April 2011 Tata Nano, the smallest car of Tata Motors will be sent abroad with shipment of 498 units. It is believed that a formal announcement of this export is to come up soon. As per SIAM, 498 units were exported last month when in the corresponding month last year only a single unit was exported.

However right now the Company is not interested in sharing the list of the countries in which Nanos have been dispatched last month. The Company when asked by PTI replied by saying that they will announce about it very soon and they have their reasons as why r they sending Nano to the overseas market.

As per last year's statements of Tata group they are at the final stage of selecting a site for the production of Nano cars which can be in Latin America, South East Asia or Africa.

The Managing Director of Tata Motors industries Mr Kishore A Chaukar said that as they are at the final stage they need to select a place where supply of components is easy. They consider Latin America, South East Asia and Africa as key regions where their will be a supply chain of components along with a local and accessible market.

Apart from this the company was also looking out possibilities in the neighbouring countries. They explored Nepal to be production site as well.

The price of Nano car in Nepal is NPR 700,000 which comes around INR 4.5 lakhs because of 300 percent custom duty. The distributor of Tata Motors in Nepal Mr, Shambhu Prasad Dahal they will import five Nano cars as test drive in July last year.

Currently, In India, the world's cheapest car or commonly know as the people's car is manufactured at Sanans in Gujrat and also at Patnagar in Uttrakhand.
