Tata Nano does it Again: Selected Zigwheels Car of the Year!

Tata Nano has successfully reversed the waves of skepticism it faced during its release and traveled on to win accolades and prizes one after another. Having successfully established itself as the "people's car" the Tata Nano is now riding high on people's accolades. The latest feather in the cap of Tata Nano comes in the form of the 2009 Economic Times Zigwheels Car of the Year.
Tata NanoIt wasn't easy. The little Tata Nano faced competition among others from bigger and pricier brethren like Toyota Fortuner, Fiat Grande Punto, Mahindra Xylo, and the Mercedes-Benz E-class.

But if you talk about class, then the classless Tata Nano has been voted as first class by the people. The Tata Nano topped not only due to its dramatic designing but for its relevance to India and its place in the heart of its admirers.

To take their decision, Zigwheels ensured that unbiased opinions were received from the largest possible audience base, and also made use of the media prowess of the Times Group. The Zigwheels.com Viewers Choice Opinion Poll had a huge response from all corners of the country and unanimously, Tata Nano was selected the
Zigwheels Car of the Year for 2009. This award, following close on the heels of the ICOTY awards firmly establishes the superior appeal of Tata Nano not only in terms of price and popularity, but also in terms of innovative technology that has been able to deliver promises.

And has Zigwheels states on its site with open sympathy that the Tata Nano "of course could have easily been the Car of 2008 had it not run into messy political tussles, but the small soldier had enough steam in its idea to carry on even with major setback."

As Zigwheels points out "It would be an understatement if we were to say that the Tata Nano was the most awaited
car in India - because as things went, the entire globe had their eyes fixated on the gates of the Tata Motors factory prior to the car's launch earlier this year and for good reason."

Truly said, for phony political promises have already worn out their charm and it's keeping promises that count. As Zigwheels states on its news coverage, "The Nano not only looks cuter than most things on wheels on Indian roads, but delivers on all the promises that Ratan Tata had made to the world as well. It is a marvel of engineering - the way the car has been packaged right from its interiors to the 600cc twin pot petrol engine is a lesson that has been closely watched and applauded by some of the best
car makers in the world. And no wonder then, that the Tata Nano grabbed the unanimous vote for the ET ZigWheels Car of the Year 2009." The Tata Nano has lived up to what it signaled for India, and we can do no less than recognize its place in history.
