Latest news to hit the Indian auto industry is Maruti Suzuki India’s plan to launch a global car by 2017.
I V Rao, Managing Executive Officer (R &D) mentioned in a report about company’s plan to launch a new car in the Market. He added once their R & D center at Rohtak is started, the company will focus on launching the car. Suzuki Motor Corp (SMC) will assist in the manufacturing of this global car. It will help in improving the efficiency and standards of the car for launch in the European and Japanese markets. It is expected to roll out in 2017.
The others cars introduced by Maruti are Swift and Maruti Ritz. Both the cars have churned out high sales figure in Indian car market. At present company is active with pre-launch work for a new car to be rolled out in small segment, next year. It will be powered with 800cc engine and will have same platform used by company’s existing cars.
Company has invested around Rs. 1500 crore on the manufacturing of this new model in its R&D plant in Rohtak. This is SMC’s first significant centre outside Japan, company is focusing on enhancing its new plant and aims to manufacture a full model at Rohtak. The cars rolled out by the company include Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Alto, Maruti Zen, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti A-Star, Maruti Eeco, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Gypsy, Maruti Kizashi, Maruti Omni, Maruti Swift Dzire and Maruti SX4 under its portfolio in the Indian market.
