The new BMW 6-Series Coupe is getting ready to hit the dealerships later this fall and the German based automaker has taken the wraps off the engine range of the sports car, including the 640d, 640i and 650i.
The BMW 6-Series Coupe 640d takes its power from the six-cylinder in-line TwinPower multi-stage turbocharged and Common Rail direct injection diesel engine (2.993 cc) which is delivering a total output of 313 horsepower at 4.400 rpm and a maximum torque of 630 Nm available between 1.500 to 2.500 rpm.
BMW says that the 640d can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h, all of this with an average fuel consumption of 5.5 liters ever 100 kilometers, emitting just 145 g/km of CO2 (Euro 5).
Moving up a bit and we can find the 640i Coupe, which is powered by the six-cylinder in-line TwinPower Turbo technology with twin-scroll turbochargers high-precision direct injection VALVETRONIC petrol engine (2.979 cc) which is delivering 320 horsepower at 5.800 to 6.000 rpm and 450 Nm of maximum torque available between 1.300 and 4.500 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time and top speed are exactly the same as the 640d, while the fuel consumption has gone up to 7.6 liters every 100 km and 180 g/km CO2 emissions (Euro 5).
The most expected 650i xDrive Coupe is here too and it’s powered by the larger V8 with two turbochargers and high-precision direct injection engine (4.395 cc) which is delivering 407 horsepower at 5.500 – 6.400 rpm with a maximum torque of 600 Nm available at 1.750 – 4.500 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 4.9 seconds and the top speed has been again electronically limited to 250 km/h. The 650i xDrive is burning an average of 10.5 – 10.6 liters every 100 kilometers and it’s emitting 245 g of CO2 every kilometer (Euro 5).
