Bajaj Pulsar 200, which has been an extremely successful model for Bajaj Auto is being retired in favour of the Bajaj Pulsar 220cc. Launched three weeks ago, the new Bajaj Pulsar is pitted against various competitors such as the Yamaha FZ16, Yamaha Fazer,Yamaha R15, TVS Apache 180, Hero Honda Karizma and Honda CBF Stunner PGM-FI. The company has deliberately priced this bike at Rs. 15,000 lower than the other bikes in the segment to remain competitive. The price of the upgraded and better model Bajaj Pulsar 220 is around Rs. 70,000 at ex-showroom Delhi prices.According to S Sridhar, chief executive (two-wheelers), Bajaj Auto, "The carburetor version of the new Pulsar 220, which has been launched, offers higher power and better performance at a much lesser price. So, continuing with the Pulsar 200 was not possible, as it was priced in the similar range. We wanted to offer the buyers a better bike at an affordable rate."
Some showrooms still have the bike on display, but it will not be supplied by the company any longer. The prices of new Bajaj Pulsar models are without any discounts. The Bajaj portfolio consists of three models at the moment - the Bajaj Pulsar 150, Bajaj Pulsar 180and the Pulsar 220.
