Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Limited are likely to launch a new iconic sports tourer model Honda VFR1200F. The announcement brings happy news for sports enthusiasts in India. Honda VFR1200F will be imported as a Completely Built Unit and it will attract a 110 percent duty. Speaking on the launch, company sources said "Honda's Indian arm will be launching the Honda VFR1200F in a CBU format and it will be pricier than its existing imported bikes like Fireblade, etc".
Honda VFR1200F was introduced as a concept model in 2008, at the Intermot Show. The production ready model was revealed at the Tokyo Auto Show last year as a V4 sports touring model. Honda VFR1200F is currently being manufactured in Japan. The first batch of Honda VFR1200F will be ready in 2010. The new Honda VFR1200F model has 1237cc 76-degree design which flaunts the latest Honda innovations.Honda VFR1200F is powered by Unicam valvetrain, developed on the CRF450R motocrosser, with a four-valve head and flatter, more efficient combustion chamber. Honda VFR1200F has a unique cylinder layout, with the rear cylinders located inward on the center of the crankshaft. The rear cylinder head is compact thus making the seating position narrower. The new changes in Honda VFR1200F make for a very compact engine.
Honda VFR1200F price will be around Rs. 20 lakh. Although the price is high, the company expects to find takers in the Indian market. Honda VFR1200F is aptly the best sports bike that money can buy.
