Maruti Suzuki Launches Ritz: Yet Another Small Car in India
Maruti Suzuki is ready to roll out its global city car, Splash (named Ritz in India) by March-April 2009. The new B+ Segment small hatchback Maruti Ritz (Maruti Splash) car would be positioned between its recently launched premium compact car-A-star and its superhatch Maruti Swift.
The Maruti Ritz will be powered by a KB family engine with two versions: a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre common rail diesel engine. Maruti Ritz (Maruti Splash) is likely to be priced around Rs. 4-5 lakh. Like the Maruti A-Star and Maruti DZire, the Maruti Suzuki Ritz will also be an A-segment car and will be manufactured from Maruti's state-of-the-art plant in Manesar, near Gurgaon.
According to sources, the new Maruti Ritz car shall be launched in six variants, which comprises three petrol cars and three diesel cars. Both the petrol and diesel engines will have four-valve-per-cylinder mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with a five-speed automatic possibly being offered as an option and will also be within Europe's much debated Co2 emission cap of 140 g/km.
The car come with Maruti Suzuki's standard set of safety features like ABS, airbags, brake assist, ASP, etc some of which may be trimmed for India, to keep costs into consideration. Also the engine & transmission options may vary for India for the petrol versions of Maruti Ritz (Maruti Splash).
